Losing Belly Fat and Your Personal Situation

Most experts will tell you when assessing your personal situation not to step on the scale. Forget about bathroom scales because the information they provide is for the most part meaningless. Scales tell you what you weigh. Not how fat you are or how to lose belly fat.

It’s not only conceivable but also probable that if you weigh exactly what you weighed in high school you are still fatter than you were in those days. Put a different way …. it’s very possible to be “overfat” without being overweight. The scale never reveals how much muscle mass you have or have lost.

Forget the scale and try these suggestions to get a realistic handle on your fat situation:

TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF

Strip down, stand in front of a full-length mirror and examine yourself closely. If you look fat then chances are  …you are. If you are going to lose that belly fat it has to start with a truthful appraisal of your personal situation. So ask yourself:

Does your belly protrude? Is your butt too big? Are there “love handles” above your hips? Are the backs of your arms flabby? Do you have “cottage cheese” thighs? Is your chest flabby?

If you are able to answer yes to any of these questions then chances are good you are too fat.

JIGGLE THAT FAT

Standing in front of the mirror run in place. If any parts of your body are jiggling or your chest and belly are bouncing then you are too fat.

CHECK THE MEASURABLES

Measure your hips …… record the number. Measure your waist at the belly button. Relax and do not suck in your stomach…… record the number. Divide your waist number by the hip number. If that number is higher than .85 then your belly is too big. Time to lose belly fat.

PINCH TEST

Using your thumb and forefinger, pinch the skin anywhere on your belly, arms, thigh or hips. If the thickness of the skin is more than ¾ inch it’s time to lose some fat.

CHECK THE BELT

If you notice that you’re moving the buckle to another hole (the wrong way) then you are getting fatter.

These are simple ways to check your situation that cost nothing and takes very little time. Assess your situation, determine if diet, exercise or a combination of both is the best plan for your fat loss and then TAKE ACTION!
